Marian Becker

October 27, 1929 to January 15, 2015

Marian Alice (Olson) Becker, much loved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, 85, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 15, 2015 in Rochester, Minnesota. Marian will be remembered for her great strength, positive spirit, and genuine love for life.

The Celebration of Life Service for her was held on Sunday, January 25th, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at Fourth Avenue United Methodist Church, Faribault, MN.

Marian was born in Mohall, North Dakota on October 27, 1929 to Selmer and Alice Olson. She graduated from Mohall High School in 1947 and was Valedictorian of her class. After graduation, Marian attended the University of North Dakota where she received her degree in Business Administration and was a member of Delta Zeta. She was a Business Administration teacher at Sauk Centre High School, and worked at the Minnesota Boys and Girls Home School. In between she raised four children.

The past several years she courageously battled the terrible disease of Dementia. She persevered daily with a smile. Her kindness filled the lives of many and her smile made people’s day. Treasures that she left were kindness, forgiveness, acceptance, and love.

Survivors include her husband, Kayle Becker, of Faribault, MN; four children, Tom (Arlene), of Lilydale, MN; Lynn (Sonia) of Owatonna, MN; Marcia (Mike), of Faribault, MN; and Dave (Deb), of Brooklyn Park, MN; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Sidney (Peggy) Olson of Mohall, and Christine (Daryl) Peterson of Antler; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Corynne Anderson and Rikka Page.

William Allen

October 19, 1927 to January 19, 2015

William Burke Allen, 87, Grand Forks, formerly of Mohall, died Monday, January 19, 2015, at a Grand Forks hospital.

His funeral service was held Saturday, January 24, 2015, at 10:30 a.m., at Zion Lutheran Church, Mohall. Burial will be held at Mohall Community Cemetery, Mohall, in the spring.

A family service was held on Friday, January 23, 2015, at 7:00 p.m., at the church.

Officiating at the service was Pastors Eugene and Marilyn Moeller. Organist was Vonda Schmidt.

Casketbearers were his grandchildren: Eric Allen, Andrew Allen, Katherine Dunham, Ryan Allen, Kristen Allen, and Sean Allen.

Bill was born October 19, 1927, in Mohall to Floyd T. and Gertrude E. (Burke) Allen. He was raised in Mohall and graduated from Mohall High School in 1945. He joined the U.S. Navy in September of 1945; served on the U.S.S. Albany, U.S.S. Dayton, and the U.S.S. Huntington (mostly the Huntington). He was honorably discharged in October of 1948.

He attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, where he was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon (TKE) fraternity; his brother, Winston, later joined the same fraternity. While at U.N.D., he was a member of the U.N.D. Marching Band. Bill was a lifetime Fighting Sioux supporter and faithfully followed U.N.D. sports throughout his life. He and Winston joined their father and mother in the Allen Chevrolet business in the early 1950s.

Bill married Doris Mae Hawkinson, in Mohall, on August 15, 1954. They had two sons, Jon (1955) and Robert (1957). In the early 1960s, his father passed away due to a heart attack. Bill and Winston, together with their mother, Gertrude, ran the family business until she passed away in 1984. Later, Bill and Winston sold the business to Chuck Notbohm, and it became Notbohm Motors.

He was a member of United Methodist Church, Mohall. He was active in the Mohall Ambulance Service and the Mohall Fire Department as an E.M.T. and responded to numerous ambulance and fire calls for many years, the Mohall City Council where he acted as interim Mayor and interim Chief of Police when needed, Yellowjacket Booster Club, drove the team bus or the student bus to sports events away from Mohall for years, was a Mohall Public Schools school bus driver for over 40 years, a member of the George T. Taylor American Legion Post #52, served as the Renville County Veterans Service Officer, and was a member of the General Motors “Chevrolet Only the Best” Club most of his years in the car dealership. Together with his brother, Winston, and long-time friends, Alan “Whoopie” Abrahamson, and Ervin Ellingson, he loved to sing and sang at weddings, funerals, and other events. He was a member of the Legion Band which included Bill on the baritone, Winston on the trumpet and flugelhorn, Lynn Witteman on the trumpet, and Wendell Bowen and Elmer Strand on the drums and piano. Bill also served as a funeral assistant for many years.

Bill is survived by his wife, Doris Allen, Grand Forks; sons, Dr. Jon (Rose) Allen, Grand Forks, and Robert (Sandy) Allen, Minot; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild, and one great-grandchild on the way; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Winston Allen; and an infant sister, Mary Lou Allen.

Jean Krohn-Jaman
August 30, 1935 to January 17, 2015

Jean Krohn-Jaman, age 79, of Minot, died Saturday, January 17, 2015 in a Minot nursing home.

Cremation has taken place. Services will be held at a later date.

Jean Krohn-Jaman, a daughter of Robert and Mabel (Eamon) Maxton, was born on August 30, 1935 at Lansford. She was reared and educated at Lansford. After her graduation, she helped her mother in the café at Tioga.

She was married to William Krohn in 1953. They moved to Newburg after their marriage. In 1962 they moved to Tripoli, Libya. They then moved to Colorado in 1970. Their marriage later ended. She was married to Mr. Jaman for a time. She moved to Minot where she has resided since.

Jean was a member of the Methodist church in Minot.

She is survived by sons, Michael Krohn of Williston and Patrick Krohn of Bottineau; a daughter, Karen Alderin of Bismarck; several grandchildren; and sister, Audrey Savelkoul of Minot.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Robert; brothers, Bud, Larry, and Jim.

Lloyd Lampson
October 31, 1921 to January 17, 2015

Lloyd Lampson, 93, Mohall, died Saturday, January 17, 2015, at a Mohall nursing home.

A graveside service at the Grano Cemetery will take place in the spring.

Lloyd was born October 31, 1921, on the family homestead near Grano to Grove and Selma (Oberg) Lampson. He was raised on the family farm and attended school in Grano and Lansford.

He entered the U.S. Navy on October 12, 1942 and served on the U.S.S. Bunker Hill during WW II. He was honorably discharged on May 11, 1945.

He returned home and assisted his brother, John, in the operation of the family farm. He entered the Good Samaritan Society - Mohall, in December of 2006.

Lloyd enjoyed playing the harmonica and classical music on his violin.

He is survived by brother, Orville (Dorothy) Lampson, Alsen; niece, Patty Knutson, Starkweather; nephew, Wes Lampson, Alsen; and great-nephews, Tyler Knutson, Devils Lake, and Sean Knutson, Minot.
