Kevin Thom

November 3, 1954 to April 15, 2014

Kevin Martin Thom, 59, Dickinson, formerly of Mohall, died Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at a Bismarck hospital.

His Memorial Service was held on Monday, April 21, 2014, at 1:00 p.m., at Zion Lutheran Church, Mohall. Burial was in the Mohall Community Cemetery, Mohall.

Officiating at the service was Reverend Todd Olson. Organist was Chantel R. Southam.

A family service was held on Monday, April 21, at 10:00 a.m., at Brose Funeral Home, Mohall.

Kevin was born to Marvin and Harriet (Wood) Thom on November 3, 1954, at St. Andrews Hospital in Bottineau. In 1954, Harriet entered the hospital planning on having one baby, as there were no ultrasound tests at that time. Kevin was polite and waited for his two sisters to be born first: Karen #1, Kathy #2, and then Kevin. Surprise! They were the first triplets born in the Bottineau Hospital that survived.

He attended school in Kramer until the family moved to Mohall where he enrolled in the third grade. While attending Mohall High School, he played football, was student manager for the basketball team, and played tuba in the Yellowjacket band. Kevin was also a soloist in the high school choir. He graduated from Mohall High School in 1972, and then attended Minot State College.

Kevin married Lyndi Abrahamson on August 4, 1978, in Mohall. They made their home in Mohall where he started his oil field career with National Supply. He then worked in Westhope for Westhope Oilfield Supply. He was hired by Champion Technologies and worked for 21 years in the Mohall area before transferring to Dickinson where he continued with Champion. He retired December 30, 2013, after working for Champion for 29 years, a company he was very proud of.

He enjoyed playing golf, shooting pool, watching all sports, and riding his motorcycle with Lyndi.

He was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at the age of two. He never let his health slow him down and lived a full and active life.

Kevin is survived by his wife of 35 years, Lyndi Thom, Dickinson; parents, Marvin and Harriet Thom, Lake Metigoshe; brothers, Bill (Peggy) Thom, Grand Junction, Colorado, Robert “Dobie” (Tracie) Thom, Kenmare; sister, Kathy (Kenton) Onstad, Parshall; brother-in-law, Dr. Bill Berryman, Grand Junction, Colorado; sister-in-law, Toni (Abrahamson) Ness, Mohall; brother-in-law, John (Donna) Abrahamson, Dickinson; special niece, Stacey Ness, Roseville, Minnesota; and numerous other nieces and nephews whom he loved so much. Kevin is also survived by his special buddy, Gilbert, his golden doodle.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Karen Berryman; nephew, Kevin Thom; father-in-law, Allen Abrahamson; and mother-in-law, Gloria Abrahamson.
