Annual Northwest Basketball Camp in Mohall
|
The annual Northwest Basketball Camp was held in Mohall from Tuesday, June 4th through Friday, June 7th. The camp was organized by MLS boys’ basketball coaches Matt Undlin and Cody Beck, with assistance from other area coaches and high school players. Students from around the area entering grades 1 through 8 participated in the game. Those participating were:
Grade 1: Boys - Bryce Johnson and Jaren Mattern; Girls - Samantha Berg and Jordan Moberg.
Grade 2: Boys - Taylor Mogan, Kellan Henry, Riley Morlock, Devin Fowler, Eli Labatore, Braden Savelkoul, and Lucas Titus; Girls - Jasmine Undlin, Ginger Savelkoul, Rilynn Beck, Lilly Solemsaas, Kayla Desjardins, and Hannah Overby.
Grade 3: Boys - Samuel Ellingson, Braxton Fitzsimmons, Conner Degenstein, Levi McLain, Javin Mattern, Grant Titus, and Jesse Eide; Girls - Maddy Johnson and Allison Undlin.
4th Grade: Boys - Jacob Undlin, Joseph Savelkoul, Ryan Morlock, Parker Johnson, Gannon Hall, Blake Nehring, Steele Olson, Kordell Klokstad, Alex Kopichanski, and Matthew Brendsel; Girls - Lauren Steeves, Kylie Abernathey, and Madison Moberg.
5th Grade: Boys - Logan Dean, Deacon Johnson, Stetson Helwig, Brock Depute, Javen Adams, Corbin Hall, Lucas Undlin, and Ryan Feland; Girls - Hannah Hagen, Makena Raap, and Amber Undlin.
Grade 6: Boys - Elijah Ellingson and Henry Savelkoul; Girls - Autumn Smith, Grace Solemsaas, Summer Smith, Ariana Cook, Eden Howery, and Savannah Davis.
7th Grade: Boys - Charles Eriksmoen, Riley Strand, Dalton Moberg, Isaac Undlin, and Jacob Gates; Girls - Katelyn Berg, Jorie Holsten, Taylor Steeves, Allison Girard, and Toni Eide.
8th Grade: Boys - Cody Wagonhoffer, Trevor Savelkoul, and Aaron Voigt; Girls - Donna Eide.
Throughout the week, campers competed in contests. Those contests included: Hot Shot, Ball Control, Free Throws, Layups, and Dribbling. Winners in those competitions were:
GIRLS’ HOT SHOT: 5th grade - Hannah Hagen; 6th grade - Autumn Smith; and 7th and 8th grade - Taylor Steeves.
BOYS’ HOT SHOT: 5th grade - Brock Depute; 6th grade - Henry Savelkoul; and 7th and 8th grade - Isaac Undlin.
BOYS’ FREE THROWS: 5th grade - Corbin Hall; 6th grade - Elijah Ellingson; and 7th and 8th grade - Isaac Undlin.
GIRLS’ FREE THROWS: 5th grade - Hannah Hagen; 6th grade - Autumn Smith; and 7th and 8th grade - Toni Eide.
GIRLS’ LAY-UPS: 1st grade - Jordan Moberg; 2nd grade - Lilly Solemsaas; 3rd grade - Allison Undlin; 4th grade - Kylie Abernathey; 5th grade - Hannah Hagen; 6th grade - Autumn Smith; and 7th and 8th grade - Toni Eide.

GIRLS’ BALL CONTROL: 1st grade - Jordan Moberg; 2nd grade - Rilynn Beck; and 3rd grade - Maddy Johnson.
Two other awards were handed out. They were Outstanding Camper: Boys - Logan Dean, and Girls - Lilly Solemsaas; and Gretsky Boy - Henry Savelkoul; and Gretsky Girl - Autumn Smith.
All of the campers who participated were given a t-shirt.

Deputes place at Summer Track Meets
|
Brock, Morgan, and Hailee Depute, the children of Kathy and Mikey Depute of Mohall, recently participated in a couple of summer track meets.
Brock competed in the 9 to 10 year old group in the Hershey’s Track Meet and placed first in the softball throw, second in the long jump, and third in the 50 M dash. This was the local meet and was held in Minot on Thursday, June 6th. His first place finish in the softball throw allowed him to advance to State Hershey’s Meet which was held in Rugby on Saturday, June 15th. Brock finished 2nd with his throw of 129' 8".
On Saturday, June 8th, Brock, Morgan, and Hailee all participated in the USATF Dakotas Junior Olympic Championships. Brock finished first in the mini-javelin, first in shot put, and fifth in long jump in the 9 and 10 year old age division. Morgan competed in javelin and finished in first place in the 13 and 14 year old division. Hailee finished second in the long jump, third in the 200 M dash, and fourth in the 100 M dash in the 15 and 16 year old division. They each qualified for the Region 8 USATF Championships that will be held in Aberdeen, SD on July 4th through the 7th, if they choose to participate. This meet includes athletes from North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Nebraska, and Iowa.
